Airhart Construction Begins Sales at the Cottages at Park Place

Low-maintenance homes near downtown Lombard from the low $400s

Airhart Construction recently announced sales at its newest community: Park Place in Lombard with six single-family, cottage-style homes offering low-maintenance amenities. Located conveniently near downtown Lombard on the corner of Park Avenue and West Grove Street, Park Place is set within an established neighborhood a couple of blocks from the Main Street Lombard Metra train station and walking distance to the Lombard Town Centre shopping district, Lilacia Park, the Helen Plum Public Library and the Illinois Prairie Path.

A Homeowners Association will handle all landscaping, lawn mowing and snow removal as well as maintain a small park area on the southeast corner of the site. Airhart recently completed sales in another similar low-maintenance community; College Station in Wheaton, with 14 cottage-style homes near the College Avenue Metra station and the Illinois Prairie Path.

“These are ideal homes for on-the-go home owners who want a convenient address, appreciate quality construction and the ability to personalize their new home to meet their needs,” said Court Airhart, president of Airhart Construction. “These buyers live beyond the borders of their yard; they don’t want to have to worry about upkeep and being tied to maintaining their lawn and yards on the weekend and these Cottage Homes cater to their active lifestyles. They’re looking for a brand-new home with the latest in design trends which also allow them the freedom to travel, work and play when they want, without the hassle of snow removal, tending to landscaping, raking the leaves and mowing the grass.”

Similar to classic row homes, the cottage-style homes are rear-loaded, with a two-car garage—yielding a charming front exterior and more efficient floorplan layout. Homeowners have the flexibility to customize and personalize their new home with Airhart Construction’s on-staff architect. Five exterior facades are available in Standard, Prairie Bungalow, Greek Revival and Dutch Colonial and Cape Cod designs. A truly unique feature is the optional roof terrace which provides approximately 200 square feet of outdoor living space with plenty of room for patio furniture, a garden and a grill. The enclosed portion of the terrace also lends itself to a pocket kitchen or wet bar.

“We are offering two of our most popular home designs from College Station at Park Place,” said Christy Whelan, sales manager. “At College Station, homeowners vary from young couples, singles to empty nesters, the common theme is they are busy and looking for a great central location. We anticipate this also at Park Place with added interest from those also wanting to downsize without leaving the Lombard and Elmhurst areas. Our Graham model offers a first floor master suite that will appeal to them.”

“Cottage homes continue to be in demand. They are homes that offers the best of both worlds—the volume, flow, design flexibility and privacy of a detached home combined with the ease and simplicity of a low-maintenance attached home. And unlike condo living, you don’t have to make that long walk from the parking garage to the elevator to your unit,” said Heather Mistele, sales manager. “In fact we continue to hear interesting stories about our buyers.  One of the couples at College Station own a boat they keep docked in the city.   During the summertime they spend their weekends on the boat instead of taking care of their lawn. They are the type of buyer these homes will attract.”

However, that does not mean there is a lack of open space at Park Place.  There is a private pocket park that is nestled into Park Place that will be wonderful gathering spot for Park Place residents as well as a great place for kids and pets to play.  School age children at Park Place will attend Pleasant Lane Elementary and Glenn Westlake Middle School within District 44 and Glenbard East High School in District 87.
